MailChimp is the most used email marketing platform with over 17 million customers and users they send over 1 billion emails a month. MailChimp is trying to brand itself as the marketing and automation platform for email. We have tested all of their features and will discuss it in this review. They offer support but it can be slow, some users have reported being answered up to three days later. By that time customers have found a solution on their own and have lost time and money figuring out the solution.
Let’s dive into the features of MailChimp
If you want to learn all about your customers you can do so with the profiles section. This feature offers insights into an individual customer such as purchase history, revenue generated and more. With a feature like this, you can be sure to learn how to market to your customers better. If you need more detailed insights into your customers we recommend Heap Analytics.
MailChimp works with ten different e-commerce platforms and can provide statistics about your customers purchasing history and trends. You can send emails to your clients when they purchase products from your online store powered by MailChimp, this goes a little into the realm of transactional email but this is a powerful feature for your store. MailChimp will show you the revenue your emails have generated and how much each customer is worth. You can create reports just for e-commerce although you cannot create comparative reports on the free plan.
The reports are very basic in MailChimp and don’t really provide enough insights into your marketing. Basic things such as opens, clicks and unsubscribes can be seen in reports. If you want to dive deeper into your analytics we recommend linking Heap Analytics with MailChimp to learn even more about your customers.
Landing pages are becoming more and more popular, with MailChimp you can create high converting landing pages. The landing page creator is very basic and does not integrate with other applications at all such as a CRM. You can only create landing pages to subscribe people to your list. Although you can send them emails automatically after they fill out the form on your landing page.
You can sign up for the free plan with MailChimp and send up to 12,000 emails a month to 2,000 subscribers. If you want unlimited sends it would cost you $25 for 2,000 subscribers, even if you are only sending to a portion of them. As your list grows MailChimps pricing can become expensive.
MailChimp is a powerful email marketing and automation platform. If you are a small business we recommend MailChimp for its ease of use and friendly editor. MailChimp can integrate with thousands of platforms and apps.
